Cheshunt School
A Foundation Specialist Technology College

Supportive. Inclusive. Effective.

    New Building Open

Our £5.5 million redevelopment was officially opened on Friday 25th November when Charles Walker OBE MP cut the ribbon in front of local and county councillors, architects, builders, student, staff and governor representatives from the school. The school improvements were funded as part of a redevelopment plan which includes the building of over 88 family homes on a piece of disused land to further benefit the local community. The new building at the College Road school includes state-of-the-art facilities for Science, Design & Technology, IT, Maths, Art, Drama and Music. The new building has been integrated into the existing site through the addition of a first floor walkway and the remaining large playing field has been enhanced with the addition of a floodlit multi-use games area.

At the official opening Charles Walker OBE MP declared: “The opening of this wonderful new building marks a new beginning for Cheshunt School.  Everyone involved in this project is deserving of congratulations.  But most importantly, the children are so proud of their new classrooms and facilities.  There is just an overwhelming sense of energy and purpose coursing through the classrooms and corridors.”

After the opening ceremony the dignitaries were given a tour of the new facilities by members of the school’s student executive who are proud ambassadors of the school.

In his opening speech, Andy Stainton, Headteacher said: “This has been a project 20 years in the making! This fantastic redevelopment has been made possible through close working partnerships with Cornerstone Assets who developed the funding model, our architects at NPS Group, project managers at Prime Place and our builders from Beard Construction. We are grateful for the emphatic support of Broxbourne Borough Council and the drive and dedication of the staff and governors to see this project through to completion several months ahead of time. This building stands as testament that Cheshunt School is here for generations to come, providing a great education in exciting facilities.”
