    Duke of Edinburgh Award

Cheshunt School are delighted to be able to offer Sixth Form students the opportunity to complete the Silver Level Duke of Edinburgh award. The award gives all young people aged 14-24 the chance to develop skills for life and work, fulfil their potential and have a brighter future. The award is nationally recognised and is commended for the positive impact it has on the lives of the young people.

A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end.  It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from.  You just need to be up for a challenge and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

Completing the award involves undertaking a number of activities in a personalised programme, including overnight expeditions, a physical activity, a skills activity and some volunteering. You'll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and the best bit is - you get to choose what you do!

Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

At Cheshunt School the award requires students to complete a practice and an assessed 3-day, 2-night expedition which the participants are responsible for planning and organising independently. Their expedition takes place in the Chiltern Hills. They then present their adventure to invited parents, friends and guests. Once they have completed all 4 sections they are presented with their award.

We are pleased to announce that in the past year 14 of our students have completed their award and we are very proud of each of them for this.
